Identity Released For 20-Year-Old Woman Killed While Walking On Lirr Tracks

Long Island Railroad officials have released the identity of a woman electrocuted by a third-rail track in Freeport.

Kay Bernese-Lopez, 20, of Hempstead, was killed about 6 a.m., Saturday, June 1, while walking with two other women near the tracks in Freeport, said an LIRR spokesman.

Bernese-Lopez was transported to South Nassau Hospital where she was pronounced dead, the spokesman said.

 There was no train involved in this incident, she had come into contact with the third rail, he said.

The MTA Police and Long Island Rail Road are investigating what led Bernese-Lopez and the other two to walk on the tracks.
